(Las Vegas, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Meredith Pallante, AGA Vice President of Global Events, granted an interview to SoloAzar, in which she talked about health and security measures for future G2E show. She also shared thoughts about how AGA managed to accompany and support the games of chance sector during the lockdown in 2020.

´AGA has remained actively engaged with our members and the gaming industry throughout the COVID-19 pandemic´

What are the main security measures that have to be complied in order to organize an event such as G2E?

The health and safety of our exhibitors, attendees and staff is always our top priority. With that in mind, we are actively coordinating with the Sands Expo and Convention Center and following all public health regulations as we move forward with planning.

Under Nevada’s current guidelines, if a gathering space or venue intends to host more than 250 individuals for an event, it is permitted to have up to 50 percent fire code capacity as long as the Large Gathering Plan Certification Form is submitted and approved. G2E leadership is currently working in coordination with the Sands Expo and other stakeholders to complete the application within the necessary time frame to host G2E in- person safely in October.

How has AGA managed to accompany and support the games of chance sector during the lockdown in 2020?

The AGA has remained actively engaged with our members and the gaming industry throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. From fighting to get gaming included in federal relief packages (a first for the gaming industry), supporting responsible reopening policies to quickly adapting our events for a virtual environment, the AGA is proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish on behalf of the gaming industry over the past year.

Now, in 2021, you have the challenge to organize in-person events but the uncertainty continues. How are you dealing with this situation?

There’s no doubt 2020 was the hardest year in our industry’s history. The lessons we learned in the early days of COVID-19 shutdowns and reopenings have prepared the industry to weather the remaining months of the pandemic and steadily move forward.
Every operator has implemented a comprehensive health and safety plan vetted, approved and continually monitored by state regulators. From stepping up cleaning and disinfecting protocols to deploying contactless technology, to screening workers to monitor health and encouraging customers to do the same—we feel confident in the steps taken to make guests safe. Operators, including Wynn and Las Vegas Sands, are working to safely bring back live entertainment and trade shows to Las Vegas with the use of large-scale rapid testing, PPE and other critical safety protocols.
