(Montevideo).- Casino profits returned to pre-pandemic levels after reaching 5,832 million pesos in the first nine months of 2022.

The information arising from the request for reports from the Frente Amplio deputy Gustavo Olmos, includes the data for the period between January 2019 and September 2022. In this, it is detailed that "collection is considered the gross result of each room, which arises as the difference between signing the machine (coin in) and what it pays (coin out plus the jackpot)”.
According to primary data, there were gains for the second time in a row, taking into account that the profits for 2021 were 4,833 million pesos and in 2020 the amount amounted to more than 3,900 million.
The agency's data shows that in the past year the profits were 10% higher than in 2019.
Casinos recorded a gross profit of more than $5,832 million, in the first nine months of last year. In this way, it surpassed the gross profits of 2021 (of $4,833 million), which did not generate profits between April and June, and of 2020 (of $3,974 million), which did not register profits between April and July. In both cases, it was due to measures to contain covid-19.
In turn, this period of 2022 saw growth compared to the first nine months of 2019, the pre-covid-19 pandemic year, in which gross profits were $5,266 million.
Gross profits between January and September 2022 were 10.53% higher than those of the same period in 2019. Total gross profits in 2019 were $7,153 million.
Among the casinos that will have the highest profits, the room located in Montevideo Shopping stands out, as well as 18 de Julio and Yaguarón.
