(Cartagena).- Within the presentation of GAT Expo 2024, Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos, highlighted the importance of transparency in games of luck and chance and proposed the creation of an association that defends and ensures legality.

“Corruption and illegality are a great challenge and represent the scourge that we must combat. That is why it is essential to strengthen inter-institutional efforts that allow strengthening the regulatory bases of the gambling industry. We have the support of the Attorney General's Office, the National Police and the Army, which allows us to guarantee a safe, legal and transparent environment for all actors,” he said.
And then added: “I also propose the possibility that, jointly with the sector, we work on the creation of an American commission of gambling regulators, which will allow us to promote regional collaboration and the exchange of best practices in this area of supervision.”
In turn, José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT Expo, hosted the event and stated that these academic spaces enable new commercial alliances that help the sector grow. In addition, he supported the proposal of the president of Coljuegos.
“The GAT Expo is a great stage for the region, where international manufacturers, national and foreign suppliers meet; operators of casino chains and also representatives of small businesses and gaming rooms. These 25 years of experience are testimony to the evolution we have had in the Colombian industry and proof of that are the alliances and links to associations in other countries,” said Aguirre.

Regarding the creation of a group of regulators, presented by the president of Coljuegos, José Aníbal Aguirre said: “I think that those are the proposals that must be put on the table and that is the narrative that we must focus on, the propositional narratives they build and to make this activity more credible and necessary for the economic development of the countries."
For her part, Elizabeth Maya, president of the National Corporation of Gambling Entrepreneurs (Cornazar), expressed the importance of this sector for the economy of entrepreneurs and the country.
“The gaming industry in Colombia is an industry that remains committed to maintaining and directing its resources to the health of the country. We are obtaining significant benefits and we continue to mention that everything that the country has built through the industry must continue forward and hand in hand with institutions, highlighting legality and good practices,” she concluded.
“We are sending transfers nationwide for 897 billion pesos, almost 900,000 million. Besides, the regions are sending almost 450 billion pesos in transfers for health. We are talking about transfers for about 1.3 billion pesos,” he pointed out.
