UK: The Hive Of IGaming Development
2 minutos de lectura
(Armenia).- The iGaming industry is having explosive growth in the UK in the past 10 years. And even though Brexit seems to affect almost every industry in the UK, the iGaming sector continually grows. The Gambling Act of 2005, which came into force in 2007, paved the way for the rise of online casinos and iGaming in the UK. This change opened the doors for gambling sites and betting operators to market their services to attract players on a mass scale.
Moreover, the UK Gambling Commission relaxed some of the gaming laws. So it’s no surprise there are more and more new online gaming and gambling sites in the UK.
Constant Revenue Growth
The Gambling Act, gambling revenues were on the rise. Less than a year after the Act came to be, the gambling industry generated £8.36 billion. The upward trend continued over the next few years, with revenues reaching a record £13.8 billion in September 2016.
As advertising regulations become looser, the ads for online casinos, sportsbooks and bingo sites are a part of British television. And the advertising efforts seem to have a tremendous effect. The UK gambling industry’s revenue from October 2017 to September 2018 has reached £14.5 billion, with iGaming accounting for 39% share.
But what is behind these constant growth and popularity?
Increased Interest and Participation
The legal changes are not the only thing that drives the iGaming industry’s development forward. It’s people’s perception towards gambling and their willingness to put up some real money in the hope of winning. As people watch others rake in tons of money from their stakes, they get tempted to try their luck as well. Which has led to an increased number of participants.
But two years ago, there was a change that seemed to threaten the industry – the introduction of stringent advertising policies regarding gambling. At first, everyone thought it might hit gaming hard, but with more people getting into the industry, it turns out this was not a hurdle.
In fact, the responsible messaging and clean image are instilling confidence in gamers and attracting even more players to the industry. Problem gaming is also addressed and the self-exclusion method alerts problem players when they need to take a break and set a period during which they will not place bets. This measure, alongside other responsible schemes, has further added to the growth of the industry. And the companies that do not adhere have been sanctioned and penalized.
Accessibility and Conveniences
In addition to the Gambling Act and loosened regulations, the key drivers of iGaming, in general, are mobile casinos. What makes them special is the convenience and accessibility they offer players, allowing them to enjoy their favorite games and place wagers on international sports events at any time and any place they want.
This not only removes the convenience of traditional brick-and-mortar casinos and betting shops but it also allows brands to reach a broader audience. Now they can get people who might never have dabbled in igaming before to do so, and even get them to play slots or other table games for free by providing demo modes and free spins.
In addition to the increased advertising, offering potential customers a taste of the experience without having to wager real money is a great way to help people discover which games they enjoy playing the most before betting real money.
Another thing that accounts for iGaming expansion, is the reliance on promotions to incentivize customers. Most iGaming operators have special offers for newcomers – the give them the opportunity to double or triple their first deposit as part of the larger welcome packages, together with bonus spins on select games.
These special promotional packages have become a major brand differentiator in the iGaming market and the sites with the best offers stand to gain a serious competitive edge.
The iGaming industry is one of the fastest-growing industries. It has a massive reach and with more and more jurisdictions changing their regulations, we are looking a market worth $1 trillion. In the UK, gambling has evolved to welcome more players, from different demographics, as well as adhere to the gambling commission’s regulations. And this has only aided growth and development.
