Lula da Silva's government draws up list of banned bets

The Ministry of Finance is preparing a platform that will inform betting companies of all individuals prohibited by law from placing online bets in the country. Currently in the final stages of development at the Ministry's Prize and Betting Secretariat, the List of Those Restricted from Betting will include Bolsa Família beneficiaries, minors under 18, professional athletes, and gambling addicts.

With the information provided by the federal government, companies must refuse any registrations, deposits, or bets from these new users. If a person on the list is already part of the website's betting database, they must be blocked and have their money returned.

The List of Those Restricted from Betting includes:

  • Bolsa Família beneficiaries;
  • Continuous Cash Benefit (BPC) beneficiaries;
  • under 18;
  • public officials working in the betting industry;
  • professional athletes, referees, sports officials, inspectors, or coaches;
  • people diagnosed with gambling addiction (a mental disorder caused by gambling addiction);
  • People who have decided to withdraw from the betting market (the "self-excluded");
  • Users prohibited from betting by a specific court order.
