(Malta).- Based on the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI) — an internationally recognised, evidence-based framework — the questionnaire includes nine simple questions that assess a person’s gambling behaviour and the social or environmental factors influencing it.

Malta Gaming Authority Launches Online Self-Assessment Tool to Promote Safer Gambling

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has introduced a new online Self-Assessment Tool aimed at helping individuals evaluate their gambling habits and promote responsible play. Available in both English and Maltese, the tool is free, anonymous, and accessible to all players.

Developed in collaboration with Sedqa, Caritas Malta, the OASI Foundation, and the Responsible Gaming Foundation, the initiative reinforces the MGA’s ongoing commitment to player protection and responsible gambling.

The Self-Assessment Tool encourages self-awareness and early intervention. Players whose results suggest a potential gambling issue are guided toward professional support from trusted local organisations. The platform also provides information about safer gambling measures, including setting personal limits and using global bet-blocking tools.

This initiative underscores the MGA’s collaborative and people-focused approach, working with partners across Malta and Gozo to ensure that anyone affected by gambling-related harm receives both guidance and care.

The MGA invites all players to use the Self-Assessment Tool regularly as a way to track their behaviour over time and stay mindful of any changes in their gambling patterns.
