(London).- This year The Commission once again visited ICE event, the show held from 7 to 9 of February, and took advantage of the gambling world coming together by updating the industry on their priorities, seeking collaboration with a wide range of domestic and international stakeholders, and exploring new products and innovations within the market.

The industry’s ICE event, held again this year at London’s ExCel, continues to be an exhibition which provides a host of opportunities for businesses across the gambling and gaming industries to showcase their products, network with colleagues, and meet to discuss a variety of key topics which are affecting the industry.
With a full schedule of speeches, meetings and working groups here are a few highlights of the event:
Executive director Tim Miller delivered a keynote speech at the World Regulatory Briefing to an audience of over 68 different jurisdictions.
Highlighting the continued globalization of the gambling industry, Tim explored how, only by coming together and collaborating, can regulators deal with such issues as illegal gambling and novel products. This was further empathized through the panel discussion with regulators throughout Europe where common challenges and opportunities we all have, such as advertising and affordability, where explored with the audience.
The chief executive from The Commission, Andrew Rhodes also attended the event and was delighted to have the opportunity to not only deliver a keynote speech within the Consumer Protection Zone, but also take part in a live interview where he too covered topics including affordability, the illegal market, and his views on the industry’s key challenges for the year ahead.
Aside from the speaking opportunities, Commission colleagues also met with a range of different jurisdictions during ICE.
Discussions around collaboration on the unlicensed market were held with representatives from Curacao, Bulgaria and Norway, whilst meetings with experts from Singapore, South Africa, Latvia and others explored the sharing of best practice.
Meanwhile, sessions with colleagues from the Netherlands, Ontario and Massachusetts sought to raise the Commission profile and objectives on the world stage.
The Commission will continue to use exhibitions and conferences to further its goals of collaborating with countries and regulators that seek to help with common issues and opportunities.
Further plans this year include attendance at GREF, NAGRA and IAGR conferences.
