(Cartagena, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Akarshit Mandhotra, Business Development Manager Uplatform, spoke exclusively with SoloAzar after his participation in the latest edition of GAT Expo. “It was our first time participating in the event,” he said.

´The Uplatform team has very ambitious goals´

In what modality did your company participate this year in GAT EXPO?

We participated in GAT Expo as a platform supplier. It was our first time participating in the event. Our goal was to gain a better understanding of the market and to network and establish relationships with local operators and suppliers. We have to say that it surpassed our expectations, and we are excited to expand on the partnerships we acquired.

It is one of the first in-person shows in a while. How was the gathering with the people of the sector and what have been the highlights of the show?

After such a long period, it was fantastic to attend an event in person. Huge credit and thanks should go to organizers for creating such a brilliant event. People were anticipating an event of this environment, and the energy and enthusiasm remained apparent throughout the whole event. The focus on legislation and digital transformation during the panel discussions were fascinating for us. During the EXPO meetings, We discovered that there is a strong desire to move towards a regulated market, which is shared by the majority of LATAM countries.

How was the last year with the online modality?

In comparison to the land-based sector, the online sector fared relatively well last year. It was an opportunity for both operators and players to see the potential and benefits of using online platforms. With Uplatform, we were able to encourage some operators to expand their products and establish an online offering. Moving forward; we strongly believe that offering both verticals is a requirement in today's market.

As a company, Which are your goals for the rest of the year?

For the rest of the year, the Uplatform team has very ambitious goals. We want to make our presence known by participating in multiple of events around the world. Travel has been restricted, seeing that we launched around the same time as the start of the COVID pandemic, so we have been eagerly looking forward to such events. From a product standpoint, the strategy is the same; we continuously strive to introduce new products and expand our offering globally. We are already in the process of introducing our product to licensed markets. We expect to have MGA and a few more national licenses soon.

Do you foresee a recovery of the sector in the short or medium term?

The recovery process has already started. Land-based operations are slowly but surely opening again worldwide. The vital aspect to consider is the urgency and steps shown by retailers to get their players online. This is going to be very important for their future sustainability. The online sector is here is to stay and continues growing. So it’s in the best interest of the Retail sector to improve their online offerings by virtue of the irrefutable fact is there are more exciting, interesting, and captivating options for the player online, and this trend will continue despite retail opening again.
