(Province of Buenos Aires).- In the midst of the wave of economic adjustments in Argentina, some bingo halls in the province of Buenos Aires are facing staff cuts and reductions in shifts, adding to the financial challenges in a context of economic uncertainty.
As in other sectors, the drop in collection, the increase in rates and the inflationary scale hits the bingo halls in the province of Buenos Aires squarely in this case, which must adjust to close the numbers. In the Province there are bingos in 32 districts of the province of Buenos Aires, in addition there are 45 rooms operated by public welfare entities or third parties that are contracted to fulfill that function.
At the beginning of the year, the first source of conflict in the sector occurred in Bingo Avellaneda when the company refused to pay the 60% increase agreed upon in the joint agreement. From ALEARA, a union of gambling workers, they maintain that since 2022 and throughout 2023 the adjustment has been taking place at the Avellaneda bingo.
The most recent case is that of Chivilcoy, where confirmed directly by Lucas Burgos, national representative of the ALEARA union leadership, it was known that 15 workers were fired from their jobs. “Days ago they had offered voluntary retirement, and there were actually several workers who expressed their intentions to stop working and in this sense, they were going to see negotiations in this regard, so this dramatic situation that occurred is not understood,” he explained. the unionist told local media.
The same thing happened at Bingo Pergamino, where the plant staff was reduced and the morning shift was suspended. A similar case was that of Ramallo, Zárate and Tres Arroyos, where it is not ruled out that the reduction in tasks and personnel will expand to the rest of the bingo halls in the Province.
