(Santiago de Chile).- Chile’s Superintendence of Gaming Casinos has ended the technical evaluation stage of bids submitted to operate casinos in the municipalities of Coyhaique and Ancud, after determining that the applicants failed to meet mandatory regulatory requirements.
Technical Evaluations End Without an Award
Through Exempt Resolutions No. 96, No. 97 and No. 98, all dated January 22, 2026, the Resolutive Council of the Superintendence of Gaming Casinos (SCJ) resolved to conclude the technical evaluation of bids submitted in the processes for granting casino operating licenses corresponding to one national license slot and one reserved slot for the Aysén Region.
The resolutions apply to the proposals submitted by Río Simpson S.A. and Casino de Juegos Coyhaique S.A., which sought an operating license in the municipality of Coyhaique, Aysén Region, as well as to the bid presented by Sociedad Mirador Hueihuén S.A. for an operating license in the municipality of Ancud, Los Lagos Region.
Failure to Meet Legal and Regulatory Requirements
According to the SCJ, the decisions were based on the fact that the applicant companies did not fully comply with the legal and regulatory requirements set out in the Technical Guidelines governing these licensing processes.
Under current regulations, failure to meet such requirements constitutes an explicit ground for discontinuing the technical evaluation stage. As a result, the Resolutive Council decided to terminate the evaluations and declare both licensing processes void.
Next Steps: New Licensing Processes
The Superintendence of Gaming Casinos also reported that, in accordance with Law No. 19,995 and its implementing regulations, a new process for granting operating licenses will be launched in due course for both the Aysén Region slot and the national slot.
Through this decision, the regulator aims to ensure strict compliance with the legal framework and to guarantee that future casino projects fully adhere to the technical and regulatory standards required under Chilean law.
