Enjoy plans to reinaugurate Gran Hotel Pucón on December 16th in Chile

It is a construction that has been created in the 40s with the objective —fulfilled by the way— of being the starting point of the incipient local industry. And now, when walking through its renovated corridors, and despite the fact that the 5-star level is already noticeable, in the new Gran Hotel Pucón or simply Enjoy Pucón, the same history that marks the economic and social development of the commune continues to be breathed. This happened a few weeks after the reopening that the company set for December 16, five days before the deadline for the Superintendency of Casinos and Games (SCJ) to receive the facilities as part of the complementary works committed to the project for a new casino and hotel, with which the company won the tender for 20 years.

La Voz… took a tour of the facilities and spoke with the local manager Gonzalo Grob; who argued that it is aims to rescue the historical value of the aged infrastructure, as well as a  modern 5-star hotel (certification already approved). In total there will be 153 rooms (previously there were 151), 20 of them of the highest level and luxury. For now, they are working at full speed to finish in the stipulated time and correct the observations that the SCJ already made to them on a first visit at the end of October.

"The 21st is the deadline for the delivery of the complementary works, after the observations made by the superintendency after the last visit," explained Grob, who added: "All these observations have to do with things that were pending at the time they visited us, because they came a long time before the end and all these repairs have been made in the meantime, and we are practically ready”.

Grob stressed, by the way, that the idea is to rescue the history of the hotel and the area, and to achieve this, they propose a museum, photographs, a skeleton of a traditional local boat and other surprises that will be revealed on the day of the reopening: "The spirit of this is this work and that was the reason why we, from the beginning, applied for the remodeling of the Hotel Pucón instead of working on the construction of a new casino and hotel; It was to re-build this Gran Hotel Pucón, which is an icon of the history of local tourism and we took it and we felt that this is the heart of Pucón from the tourist point of view”. According to the executive, to renovate the hotel is to give strength to the center or "heart" of the local tourist activity. “To renew it is to re-generate strong pulsations from this heart of tourism to be able to irradiate in the city the activation of a new tourism. To this are added, thank God, additional things such as the mountain center that will soon be renovated. So we are beginning to give, in different ways, a new face to Pucón and that is the idea of ​​the renovation of this great hotel”, assured Grob.

In the infrastructure itself, the renovated hotel will have considerable improvements in the recreational and convention centers for 1,500 people; a brand new luxury spa; a museum where giant works and photographs of local artists will be exhibited; four swimming pools, courts and large terraces; among other things.

Finally, Grob pointed out that for the inauguration an official act is planned on the scenic esplanade of the main square of Pucón, in front of the hotel. Local and regional authorities, businessmen, leaders and the community in general will be invited. Then the facilities will be toured. The next day there will be a Christmas concert that is organized with a local group. All this is expected, already with minimal work and the necessary documentation for the final reception completely settled.
