Macau casino revenue totals over USD 4.26B in Q1 2023

(Macau).- Macau’s gross gaming revenue for the first quarter of 2023 surpassed MOP 34 billion (US$ 4.26 billion), the city’s gaming regulator has announced.
According to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, local casinos brought in a total of MOP 34.642 billion in the three months to March, or about 26.2 per cent of the MOP 130 billion target made by the government last year.
Revenue from mass-market games stood at some MOP 26.077 billion, accounting for 75.3 per cent of the total; whereas contributions from VIP rooms were MOP 8.565 billion, or about 24.7 per cent of the total.
The overall Q1 gross revenue from games of chance recovered to 45 per cent of the level recorded in the same period before Covid when MOP 76.152 billion was recorded.
Revenue from VIP punters recovered to 23 per cent of where it was in 2019, while mass-market contributions rebounded to 67 per cent of the 2019 level.
