(Macau).- Total gross gaming revenues generated by the Macau SAR sector this month have remained at only about MOP200 million (US$24.8 million), data published by Sanford C. Bernstein indicated.
According to a dispatch, gaming results this month until July 24 have basically remained the same as before a 12-day citywide lockdown was enforced.
Normal casino operations were only held in the first 10 days of the month with a citywide lockdown held during July 11-22.
With daily COVID cases down to only single-digit Macau has now entered a 7-day “consolidation period” from July 23 to July 29, with some social distancing measures to remain but casinos were allowed to operate at limited capacity.
Local casinos are currently operating with less than 50 per cent of their staff permitted to return, and gamblers are required to present a negative RAT result and wear a mask rated N95 or above.
The gaming revenue average daily rate this month so far reached MOP8 million, or only 1 per cent of the average results in July 2019 and only 3 per cent of the results in the same period of last year.
Meanwhile, average daily travel in/out of Macau was still at a minimal level of 563 between July 17-23, numbers even 20 per cent lower than in the previous week.
Macau’s average daily casino gross gaming revenue for the first 10 days of July stood at US$2.48 million, or a 62 per cent sequential drop compared to the previous week.
The SAR’s gross gaming revenue had already fallen to its lowest monthly tally this year in June, the lowest results since September 2020.
