(Maryland).- Casino industry saw a slight downturn in August 2025 in Maryland, with statewide revenue falling 2.1% year-on-year to $170.27 million and contributions to the Education Trust Fund dropping 1.3%, highlighting the market’s mixed performance and potential impact on public funding.

Maryland’s six casinos reported a slight revenue decline in August 2025, generating a total of $170.27 million, down 2.1% compared to the same month last year.
State contributions also dipped slightly, with $72.75 million allocated to various programs. The Education Trust Fund received the largest share, totaling $52.41 million, a 1.3% decrease year-on-year, which could affect school budget planning across the state.
Mixed Casino Performance
MGM National Harbor remained Maryland’s top performer, bringing in $70.13 million, though this represented a 6.5% drop from last year.
Live! Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County bucked the trend with a 2.1% increase, generating $63.16 million. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore and Ocean Downs also posted gains, while Hollywood Casino Perryville suffered a 13% decline, and Rocky Gap Casino Resort saw a slight dip.
Broader Economic Impact
Casino revenue remains a key economic driver for Maryland, funding education, local communities, small businesses, and the horse racing industry. State regulators will continue to monitor revenue patterns in the coming months to assess potential impacts on public programs.
