(Caracas).- Regulatory body CONALOT seeks to standardize inspection criteria, enhance transparency, and guarantee compliance with current legislation across the gambling sector.
The National Lottery Commission of Venezuela (CONALOT) held a virtual technical meeting with representatives of the Official Public Charity and Social Assistance Institutions (IOBPAS) to coordinate new inspection procedures, review sanctioning powers, and establish requirements for land-based and digital operations.
Standardization of Criteria to Strengthen Oversight
As part of its modernization and control plans for the gambling sector, the National Lottery Commission (CONALOT) conducted a videoconference work session with representatives of the Official Public Charity and Social Assistance Institutions from various regions of Venezuela.
The meeting featured participation from the directorates of Inspection, Communications Management, and Registry, alongside the organization's Strategic Monitoring Coordination.
According to information shared by the institution via its official Instagram account, the meeting aimed to unify supervisory criteria, improve operational transparency, and ensure adherence to legal regulations across the nation's betting centers.
Five Key Pillars to Reinforce Sector Control
During the technical roundtable, authorities addressed five strategic areas related to the regulation and supervision of gambling activities.
The first pillar focused on reviewing methodologies and protocols applicable to on-site and digital inspections to optimize oversight procedures.
Secondly, authorities analyzed CONALOT's sanctioning powers along with the requirements that operators and other obligated entities must fulfill and keep updated.
The third point involved unifying legal criteria for applying temporary or permanent closure measures against establishments that commit operational infractions.
Additionally, participants coordinated the logistical planning for inspections and the delivery of supervisory schedules covering various regions throughout Venezuela.
Supervision of Video Lottery Machines and Digital Platforms
The fifth pillar was dedicated to the technological requirements necessary to verify the operation of video lottery machines and digital platforms used to commercialize gambling games.
This aspect aims to strengthen monitoring mechanisms over technological operations and ensure that equipment and systems used by operators meet the conditions required by current regulations.
These measures form part of a strategy designed to improve the regulatory body's control capacity across both physical establishments and digital channels.
Protection of Bettors and Prevention of Illegal Gambling
CONALOT is the agency attached to the Ministry of Popular Power for Economy, Finance, and Foreign Trade responsible for regulating, controlling, and supervising lottery activities in accordance with the National Lottery Law.
Through these initiatives, the institution seeks to protect bettors' rights, combat the proliferation of unauthorized games, and promote compliance with legal obligations among operators.
Furthermore, the agency aims to ensure that resources generated through lottery activities contribute to the financing of public charity and social assistance programs.
With this technical session, CONALOT advances in coordinating its inspection and control procedures to consolidate a more uniform and transparent oversight framework for the Venezuelan gambling market.
