October sees 137 hotels offering services, up 19 y-o-y in Macau

(Macau).- Macau’s hotel industry saw a total of 137 establishments offering accommodation in October, marking a year-on-year increase of 19, according to the Statistics and Census Service.
As many as 46,000 rooms are now available, up 24.8 per cent compared to the previous year.
Moreover, the average occupancy rate of rooms saw a hike of 41.1 percentage points year-on-year to reach 82.8 per cent.
Both 5-star hotels, at 85.6 per cent, and 2-star hotels, at 83.1 per cent, surpassed the 80-percent mark, experiencing surges of 45.4 and 33.7 percentage points, respectively.
The number of guests staying in hotels saw a leap of 151.8 per cent year on year that month, totaling 1,247,000.
Guests from mainland China reached 904,000, showcasing a growth rate of 131.2 per cent. Visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan experienced even more significant increases, with growth rates of 787.0 per cent and 503.1 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, the average length of stay for guests during October stood at 1.6 nights.
The average occupancy rate of guest rooms in the the first 10 months of 2023 increased by 43 percentage points year-on-year, reaching 80.9 per cent.
Furthermore, the number of guests surged by 159.9 per cent to a total of 11,041,000. However, the average length of stay experienced a marginal decline of 0.1 night, settling at 1.7 nights.
