(Pennsylvania).- In-person gambling bounced back at the 16 casinos across the state as slots and table game revenue reached a record high $3.3 billion in the last fiscal year according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board annual report. That tops the previous record of $3.2 billion for fiscal year 2018-19.

Record high revenue of USD 3.3 B recorded at Pennsylvania casinos

Retail slot revenue around the state was about $2.4 billion with table games bringing in a little over $1 billion for the period.

The fiscal year runs from July 2021 through June 2022. This was the first fiscal year not affected by coronavirus pandemic-related closures since 2018-2019.

The record wagers come as two more casinos similar in size to Live! Casino Pittsburgh at Westmoreland Mall opened in 2021.

Hollywood Casino York opened in August 2021 in a mall in York County and Hollywood Casino Morgantown opened in December 2021 in Berks County. Under legislation passed in 2017, these smaller satellite locations, called level 4 casinos by the state, can have a maximum of 750 slot machines and up to 40 table games.

Parx Casino Shippensburg is under construction in a former Cumberland County Lowe’s store. An application for a small Centre County casino is under consideration by the board, according to the report.

The Hempfield Live! location had slot revenue of about $93.8 million and about $15.7 million from table games in fiscal year 2021-2022.

In addition to the increased wagers at slots and tables, all but one other gambling category saw increases in statewide numbers.

Over $7 billion was wagered on sporting events at the 18 retail wagering locations and the 14 websites licensed by the Gaming Board, resulting in a 2% increase in revenue year over year.

What the board calls iGaming, internet based simulated slots and table games, increased by 37% to $1.2 billion. Last year $897 million was wagered legally online in the state.

The number of video gaming terminal sites in the state rose from 17 in the previous fiscal year to 65 at the end of this period. This increased revenue by 32% with more than $478 million wagered. These licenses allow up to 5 terminals that are similar to slot machines at qualifying truck stops in counties that have opted to allow them. No county in the state that has another type of casino applied to allow these kinds of sites.

Fantasy sports was the only category that saw a drop. Down from $28.1 million, it ended at $27.6 million in the latest period.

Retail slots and table games at other local casinos:

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh reported about $270.1 million in slot revenue for the period and $92 million in table games.

Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin had a slot revenue totaling about $22.1 million with $2.3 million in table games.

The Hollywood Racetrack and Casino at the Meadows brought in about $162 million in slots and $31.3 million in table games.
