(Manila).- Philippines hospitality firm Robinsons Hotels and Resorts says it plans to invest more than Php10 billion (US$178 million) to develop new hotels in the next few years, including an ultra-luxury hotel at its Cebu integrated resort NUSTAR.
In a filing, Robinsons said that the new NUSTAR Hotel at NUSTAR Resort, scheduled to open later this year, would complete the first phase of the property and cater to “discerning local and international guests who seek personalized, world-class experiences.”
Also in the works is a new Fili Hotel in Metro Manila, a sister hotel to the existing Fili Hotel at NUSTAR said to “celebrate” Filipino hospitality while setting a new standard in international luxury,” according to the company’s Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager, Barun Jolly.
Longer term, NUSTAR will also welcome the Grand Summit hotel brand, lifting its room count to around 1,000. Robinsons describes NUSTAR as a “lifestyle brand that blends local culture with art and design to provide a unique, unpretentious luxury experience.”
Robinsons already runs a Grand Summit offering in Gensan and will launch a third in Pangasinan.
Speaking at the recent IAG Academy Summit in Manila, NUSTAR COO Alan Teo said the property was continuing to show solid growth as new facilities come online, with more planned for the months ahead.
“By early next year we will have more attractions and entertainment in NUSTAR,” he said. “We will have the Skydeck, which is a glass floor located on the 36th floor where you can look straight down and will also have the perfect view of the sea and the mountains. Our leisure park will open at the same time. When the third hotel tower is competed two years from now there will be a theater as well.
“We are positioning it as a destination where you spend three to four days in the property rather than just a day or two. As the brand name implies, we want to be the star of Visayas.”
