Top 10 eSports Prize Pools Reach $177 Million in November

(London).- According to the GoldenCasinoNews.com, the Top 10 eSports tournament prize pools reached the amount of $177 million as of November 2019. With a total prize pool of $34.33 million, The International 2019 ranked first on this leading eSports tournaments list.

The International Tournament Takes First Five Places


The International 2019 took place in Shanghai in August 2019 and featured DOTA 2. The winners of DOTA 2`s 2019 world championship won an enormous $15.6 million prize, which makes more than 45 percent of the total prize pool.


The International took the first five places in the list of Top 10 eSports tournaments worldwide, with the overall prize of $134,68 million in the period of 2015-2019. Fortnite World Cup Finals 2019 Solo and Duo ranked on the sixth and seventh place with more than $15 million prize pool each, while LOL World Championships 2016 and 2018 took the last two places in the Top 10 eSports tournament prize pool list with $11,5 million in total.


Combined Prize Pool Rises 25 Million per Year


Along with the increasing growth of the entire eSports market, the combined prize pool continues to rise for around $25 million per year. For example, the combined prize pool for all eSports events in 2010 was $3,5 million in total. The following year it doubled to $ 7,5 million. The most significant leap took place between 2014 and 2015 when the total amount of all annual eSports prize pools increased from $35 million to $75 million.


This upward trend continued in the following years, and the total combined prize pool for all eSports events reached $121.1 million in 2017. The same year, the official game of the International championship DOTA 2, accounted for more than 34 percent of total eSports prize money. In just two last years, eSports combined prize pool reached $177 million. The numbers illustrate the increasing worth and significance of this segment of the gaming industry.
