(Cartagena de Indias).- The most important fair for the gaming, entertainment, technology and Esports industry in Latin America ended with an excellent commercial balance and testimonials of satisfaction from suppliers and operators, local and international authorities, associations and the main trade unions in the region.

26th edition of GAT Expo Cartagena closed with great success

Visitors from 42 countries, during three days, filled the Las Americas Convention Centre, the stage for a high-level academic programme, launches of technological innovation, cultural, social and business networking spaces, supported by a cutting-edge trade show with more than 60 stands, where the latest developments in land-based, online and omnichannel gaming portfolios were exhibited and demonstrated.

Esports also played a leading role at GAT Expo Cartagena, now with the formalisation of the alliance between the Colombian Olympic Committee, Colombian Official Esports and GAT. One of the highlights was the meeting between the President of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, the President of the COC, Ciro Solano Hurtado and the CEO of GAT Esports, José Aníbal Aguirre, who expressed to the media the central intention of working together to position Colombian cyber athletes in the short and medium term to represent the country in international competitions and championships, until they reach the Olympic Games.

The academic agenda, which took place on Monday 28 April, brought together 40 speakers in panels and presentations that addressed key issues such as regulation in different Latin American countries, digital transformation, betting trends, the current situation of the sector in Colombia, the evolution of lotteries, data analytics in physical casinos and the future of Esports.

The trade show - on 29 and 30 April - was the meeting point for operators, manufacturers, content developers and platforms, which ratified the potential of the Latin American market through alliances and the exchange of supply and demand. Victor Arias, VP of Latin American Operations for Arrise powering Pragmatic Play, commented: ‘GAT is definitely a Hub, especially for the northern part of South America, Central America, the Caribbean and, of course, Cartagena as a strategic location. New leads came to meet us here. GAT brought us a lot of new business. I am really surprised..

The organisation is grateful to all the authorities present, including Coljuegos, the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission, the Colombian Olympic Committee, as well as the Colombian guilds Asojuegos, Cornazar, Fecoljuegos, Fedelco, AIEJA from Mexico, SONAJA from Peru, ADOBAD from Dominican Republic, CIBELAE and the Loteria Nacional de Beneficencia from El Salvador.

‘GAT Expo Cartagena is much more than a trade fair: it is a platform for regional integration and a catalyst for the development of the sectors it brings together. We close this edition with the certainty of having accomplished our mission and with our eyes set on the challenges ahead,’ said José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT Events. ‘I am also encouraged by the extraordinary reception of our media outlet GAT Magazine, which allowed us to take the pulse of the leaders present in La Heroica and make it available to the entire industry.’
