Belatra at 32: From Classic Slots to Global iGaming Innovator – A Journey of Evolution, Challenge, and Breakthroughs
⏱ 3 min read
(Cyprus, SoloAzar Exclusive).- In a new anniversary of the firm, Kateryna Goi, CMO at Belatra, shares thoughts about its beginnings and its evolution up to the present. “The transition from land-based to online gaming was one of our biggest challenges and proudest achievements”, she remarks.
Belatra: Highlights from 1993 up to the present
“Belatra's story began in 1993 with land-based slot machines, and that early focus on classic gameplay gave us a solid creative foundation. However, the real evolution began in 2015, when we entered the online market. That was a significant shift—not just technically, but culturally. And yet, we managed to translate the essence of our games into digital form without losing what made them special,” Goi said.
Since then, Belatra has grown into a globally recognized provider, with a powerful presence in LATAM and Europe. “Along the way, we’ve celebrated some major milestones—like breaking into new regions, securing strategic partnerships with top-tier platforms, and experimenting with new game formats. We like to say that we reinvent ourselves yearly, not every decade. That mindset keeps us sharp and allows us to keep surprising both our partners and players,” she added.
Belatra greatest challenges
The CMO at Belatra pointed that the transition from land-based to online gaming was one of its biggest challenges and proudest achievements. “It wasn’t just about porting games into a new environment; it meant rethinking our development pipeline, rebuilding our team with new digital expertise, and adapting our creative process to a faster, constantly evolving landscape.”
“But we didn’t stop there,” she remarked, and added the following: “We’ve committed to releasing new games every single month, testing innovative formats, and staying open to fresh mechanics, themes, and characters. That pace alone is challenging, but keeps us relevant and responsive to a rapidly changing market.”
“At the same time, the iGaming space has become incredibly competitive. Dozens of new providers enter the scene every year, chasing trends and attention. The challenge has always been maintaining our unique DNA while continuing to evolve. That balance between innovation and identity is what keeps us focused. And of course, tailoring games for different regions, especially with such varied player preferences worldwide, has taught us how important flexibility and local insight are.”
The evolution of the player profile
“The modern player is worlds apart from the one who stood in front of a slot machine 30 years ago. Today’s online gamer wants speed, immersion, and instant access. They expect top-notch visuals, rich soundtracks, engaging storylines—and they want it all in the palm of their hand,” Kateryna Goi said.
“But even though the format has changed, the core motivation remains the same: players still seek profound, engaging experiences. In that sense, we’ve brought the best of our land-based roots into the online world—our attention to quality, balance, and character design continues to resonate with those looking for more than just a quick spin.”
She then said that today’s online player is more selective. “With hundreds of games just a tap away, you’ve got just a few seconds to grab their attention—and keep it. So we put everything into it: sharp graphics, compelling narratives, responsive design, and music that pulls you in. Every detail matters.
Another big shift is the power of community. Streamers and influencers now have a massive role in shaping trends. One of our favorite stories is about a streamer who won big on Ice Princess and ended up getting a tattoo of the character. That kind of emotional connection between a game and its audience is something we couldn’t have imagined years ago—but now, it’s part of how success is measured.”
Belatra’s greatest hits
“Mummyland Treasures has become one of our flagship games—it’s rich in atmosphere, full of adventure, and still a favorite among players globally. We’re thrilled to give it a new life this month with Mummy’s Mines, an instant game adaptation that brings fresh excitement to a beloved world.
Blast the Bass is another title we’re incredibly proud of. It’s our latest release and has already made waves. It’s got that “next big thing” energy, and we’re excited to see where it goes.
And we can’t forget Dragon’s Bonanza. This fantasy-driven title has been a consistent hit, loved for its pace, style, and immersive theme. It's one of those games that just keeps delivering for players looking for bold visuals and dynamic gameplay,” she concluded.
