(United Kingdom, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Simon Westbury, Head of Sales at Digitain granted an interview to SoloAzar, in which he talked about SBC Digital event and the products presented at its showcase area. “Our leading table football offering, the first in the industry, took centre stage”, he said.
What were your expectations towards new SBC Digital event?
The circumstances we currently face are nothing short of extraordinary. Conventional business practices are rapidly becoming a thing of the past. Companies across the globe have had to adapt, including those in our industry.
While face-to-face networking events such as last year’s Betting on Sports Summit are now off the table, we certainly welcomed the addition of flexible alternatives such as the SBC Digital Summit – making it the gambling sector’s first ever virtual conference.
I was impressed with the event’s high attendance levels and exemplary speaker line-up. Of course, talking into a webcam is very different to engaging with a live audience, but that was a minor price to pay given the current situation.
The conference covered a whole range of interesting topics and key learnings, including the development of omni-channel products in the era of a pandemic. It was also fascinating to hear how the renewed focus on verticals such as esports and virtuals has plugged the gap in content left by the postponement of live sports.
What products or solutions did you present at showcase area?
Our leading table football offering, the first in the industry, took centre stage. Live betting on table football is a completely new concept, and one we are proud to pioneer. The sport enjoys international popularity, and we showcased why Digitain is the perfect partner for delegates excited by its promising commercial prospects.
Add in a world class virtual sports aggregation tool, turnkey casino platform and cutting-edge esports options, and it’s clear we arrived at the conference with one of the most comprehensive packages available on the market.
Did you participate at any of the networking events held at the summit? If so, in which?
I had the pleasure of participating in three events. First off, it was great to showcase our groundbreaking table football offering alongside our talented team. Attendees were eager to hear more about how we are leading the way when it comes to realising the sport’s incredible revenue potential.
Moderating the discussion on omni-channel innovation also proved to be very enlightening, and I was particularly interested to hear Stanleybet CEO Giovanni Garrisi’s insights into the new combinations between physical and digital products.
My conference experience was rounded off by a presentation focusing on Digitain’s proactive approach to alternative product development in the face of testing circumstances. We have unveiled an action-packed catalogue designed to maintain market share for operators while live sports betting is on hold, and it was a pleasure speaking to new and existing partners about the diversity of revenue streams we provide.
I also ‘stopped by’ the virtual networking area and, although nothing can replace face-to-face conversations, it was nevertheless a great way of catching up with colleagues from across the industry.
What is your opinion on the current situation generated by the pandemics?
Being one of the world’s leading sportsbook providers, Digitain has clearly been affected by disruption to live sport. As ever though, our teams across the entire business have been inspiring - they responded quickly, enthusiastically and with great creativity. During the immediate aftermath of the outbreak we proactively launched a raft of new products to help partners adapt - and I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved.
Of course, the range of challenges presented by the pandemic will exist for some time to come. Until a vaccine is found, the retail sector will face problems ranging from a reduced footfall in betting shops to severely curtailed opening hours.
Having said that, I have been encouraged by the number of retail-focused outlets that have re-oriented their operations for the online market. Embracing change will be key to sustainability, and I believe we have plenty of reasons to be positive about the future.
