(Cartagena, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Evert Montero Cárdenas, President of FECOLJUEGOS, granted an interview to SoloAzar within GAT Expo, where the federation played an active role. "It has been a good fair that has had an interesting academic agenda and I think that helps to consolidate a very good product," he said.
How did you find the GAT event this year, where FECOLJUEGOS has a very active and leading role?
I believe that the fair has been growing and has been consolidating, and without a doubt, Cartagena is a very important setting because it has great benefits, not only hotels and mobility facilities, but also a wonderful geographical position that allows many countries of America to come, so I think that this has allowed the show to grow. In addition, there has been great interest from machine entrepreneurs, game entrepreneurs, new technologies, online, in short, I think it has been a good fair and that it has had an interesting academic agenda and I think that It helps to consolidate a very good product.
What are the queries or concerns from operators and businessmen that have approached you?
Well, with the federation directly, there are several concerns that they express to us, as part of our annual assembly here in Cartagena, within the the fair, and the concerns are various. We are experiencing an important situation here,we are living an electoral moment that forces us all to be very attentive to what is going to happen in the country, especially with the new president who is going to be elected in the coming months. We will be attentive to strengthen the sector and learn about the policies that affect the sector in some way.
What are the main topics that Coljuegos exposed this year?
I think it has come up with some very interesting regulations that are very well received by the sector, such as the homologation of machines. I think that this issue came out very well for the sector, since they were able to understand the needs of the sector and all our recommendations. Of course, the strengthening of the norm against what is responsible gambling. I am convinced that we have to be a very careful sector with regard to responsible gaming, and COLJUEGOS has issued a regulation in this regard that is very interesting, surely it will have to be improved. And COLJUEGOS is working very hard on that because it contracted the elaboration of a communication code for the sector, which will allow the whole issue of advertising to be seen, how the messages are being sent, what is being done. A private company was contracted to provide the navigation chart precisely to achieve much stronger and more powerful regulations regarding the issue of social responsibility.
How does the issue of online gambling regulation come about in terms of the number of licenses?
Well, the licenses have been maintained, surely other licenses will arrive, but they have been maintained, I think it is still a growing product, it is a product that has very good possibilities for users, it is a very organized and serious product, it takes care The issue of social responsibility is very important, so I think it is progressing, we are doing very well, although we are still very concerned about the issue of illegality, not only online but also landbased. We believe that this is a latent threat that has been around for a long time and we are closing ranks against all illegal gambling in the country.
Finally, I want to add that we are working very hard to review the regulation, since we have a law that is already 21 years old and needs to be updated, we already have a proposal on the subject of unions and we are going to make a proposal that we are going to make in the new congress. so that Law 643 is reviewed and updated.
In addition, I think it is important that the sector deals with its own, which is the issue of gambling and new technologies, regulations, but we cannot be oblivious to global trends such as the sustainable development goals of the United Nations, so FECOLJUEGOS got on that bus and right now we are working with the 17 sustainable development goals. I think that this is a global trend of all industries and companies and we cannot neglect this front for responsibility with the country and the planet, such as the issue of inclusion, water care, the carbon footprint.
