Introducing virtual sports in North America
“Facing the new opportunities presented by the US market, we can clearly see that, if virtual sports are introduced and offered correctly, their prospects of growth are enormous,” wrote CEO Martin Wachter in a recent guest column for GI Friday (Gambling Insider).
“When we started offering virtual sports in Europe in 2006, the situation was in some ways very similar to the one we are seeing right now in the US. At the time, operators and players did not know much about virtual products. Today, 15% to 20% of the monthly profits generated at a betting shop are driven by virtual sports. In other regions, like Latin America and Africa, these percentages are even higher.
I find that the experience we have gained establishing virtual sports in Europe when they were completely unknown, and the incredible work we have done together with our partners studying players’ behaviour and needs, can help us define the most successful path to enter the US market.”
