Regarding a possible boost for online gambling regulation in the region, Karen Sierra, GLI Director of Government Relations and Business Development for Latin America and the Caribbean, stated: "The issue has been on the table for the last 5 years , from the regulation in Colombia ". Then he said that in the Province of Buenos Aires, regulation is pending, that a bill was presented in Panama in March, that in Chile and Brazil the subject generates great interest, and that fantasy sports were legalized in Puerto Rico. He also assured that the crisis will accelerate the processes and that many regulators are already working remotely.
Sierra also said that there are many technological tools to control online gambling, such as maximum bet limit, list of restrictions, operator messages, links to responsible gaming associations, self-regulation tests, etc.
