(Barcelona).- The ICE Sustainable Gambling Zone opened with a flourish this morning (19th January) when safer gambling organisations Proyecto FES, Fejar, (both Spain), Betblocker (Pan-Europe) and Fundación Convivir (Argentina) each received a donation of €20,000 to help further their essential work.
The donations were presented by Ewa Bakun, Clarion Gaming's Director of Industry Insight and were the result of generous contributions from 11-leading brands comprising Acordjoc, Betsson Group, BGaming, Cirsa, Flutter, Grupo Orenes, Merkur, Merkur Dosniha, Novomatic, Novomatic Spain and Zitro. The record €80,000 raises the cumulative total donated by industry supporters since ICE 2019 to €462,500.
Speaking following the presentations Ewa Bakun said: "This record sum reflects the importance the industry attributes to the development of a sustainable future. ICE is a global event and I'm delighted that we are supporting organisations that are active across jurisdictions.
"In Spain Proyecto FES will be using the fund to deploy the Catalan-language version of the campaign to raise awareness of the risks associated with digital media. The second donation of €20,000 has been made to FEJAR to support their February Conference, in particular its efforts to attract more Latin American regulators to the event. The sum donated to Betblocker contributes to the organisation's research and engagement programme, while the fourth donation, the first that we have made in Latin America, is to Argentina-based Fundacion Convivir which adopts a multidisciplinary approach that integrates addiction prevention, treatment, research and training, in collaboration with public and private partners.

The 2026 edition of the Safer Gambling Zone (SGZ), is hosting 27 safer gambling organisations drawn from ten countries and is the biggest since the feature was introduced to the ICE show floor in 2018. Boasting a new high-profile presence located in the main corridor between Halls 4 and 5 and a redesigned open, layout, the SGZ provides attendees with a unique opportunity to explore new technology trends and engage in three days of insightful presentations navigating the future of safer gambling and safer gambling regulation. One of the most popular features on the ICE show floor the SGZ is widely accepted as representing the flagship platform for the promotion, adoption and advancement of safe gambling practices.
Headline sponsor of the 2026 ICE Sustainable Gambling Zone is Gamecheck. The safe gambling innovator uses blockchain-based verification technology to provide legitimate operators with a powerful tool to demonstrate that every game on their platform is authentic and unmodified, in the process turning integrity into a tangible competitive advantage.
