SBC reaches deal to maintain SBC Summit in Lisbon until 2030

SBC's agreement with Portugal

SBC has signed a new long-term agreement to maintain Lisbon as the host city of SBC Summit through 2030, strengthening its commitment to the Portuguese capital as the home of its flagship industry event.

The agreement was signed with Turismo de Portugal, the Municipality of Lisbon and Lisboa FCE, the non-profit association responsible for managing major exhibition and congress venues in the city. It extends the previously confirmed commitment to Lisbon beyond the 2027 edition, with dates and institutional support now secured for 2028, 2029 and 2030.

SBC and Lisbon Strengthen Long-Term Partnership

The agreement reflects a shared objective of expanding the international reach of SBC Summit while further establishing Lisbon as the event’s long-term home.

The combination of Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL) and MEO Arena provides SBC with the capacity to host its exhibition, conference, networking and entertainment programmes as the event continues to expand.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO & Founder of SBC, said: “We’re happy to formalise the way we feel by committing to this city till 2030. Onwards and upwards. The agreement gives SBC and our attendees and partners the stability to plan and invest for the future. Knowing exactly where we’ll be and for how long means we can keep pouring everything into making the Summit bigger, better and more valuable for everyone who comes through the doors.”

The agreement was formally signed on the final day of SBC Summit, with senior representatives from Lisbon, FIL and Turismo de Portugal attending the ceremony.

Those present included:

  • Gonçalo Reis, Vice President, City of Lisbon
  • Maria Luísa Aldim, Deputy Mayor for Innovation Social Development
  • António Ramalho, President of the Executive Board, FIL
  • Carlos Oliveira, Member of the Executive Board, FIL
  • Teresa Monteiro, Member of the Board, Turismo de Portugal

Lisbon Continues to Support SBC Summit’s Growth

Sojmark highlighted the importance of the partnership with the city as SBC prepares for several more years of growth in Lisbon.

Sojmark added: “We are very happy to have the support of the city we have chosen to host our biggest and most ambitious event. Year on year, Lisbon is proving to be the perfect fit, and we’re grateful for all the support we’ve received from the city so far.”

António Ramalho, President of the Executive Board at FIL, also highlighted the role of SBC Summit in Lisbon’s international events strategy.

Ramalho commented: “We are committed to working alongside SBC, supporting its ambitions and creating the conditions for the Summit to continue growing in Lisbon. Events of this scale and international reach are key to positioning Lisbon, Parque das Nações and FIL at the forefront of the global events industry, reinforcing our city’s ability to attract and successfully host some of the world’s leading events.”

SBC Summit’s Growing Impact on Lisbon

SBC Summit has continued to increase its presence in Lisbon since relocating to the city in 2024.

For the 2026 edition, attendees travelled from 178 countries, generating an estimated 85,000 room nights across the Portuguese capital. Final attendance figures for the event are still being confirmed.

The 2026 programme also featured the Leadership in Sports Business keynote, bringing together basketball icon, investor and philanthropist Michael Jordan, Sportradar founder and CEO Carsten Koerl, and DraftKings co-founder, CEO and Chairman Jason Robins. The discussion was moderated by broadcaster Kirsty Gallacher.

New Summits and International Speakers

The third edition of SBC Summit in Lisbon introduced several new initiatives, including the standalone Affiliate Leaders Summit, focused on the affiliate and performance marketing community.

The programme also featured the Global Prediction Markets Forum and the African Gaming Forum, alongside a new structured networking programme.

Other high-profile speakers included football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano and UFC champion Charles Oliveira.

The event concluded with INFINITY Lisbon, featuring DJ Tiësto as the headline act.

SBC Summit to Return in September 2027

The global event will return to Feira Internacional de Lisboa and the MEO Arena from 21-23 September 2027, with the newly signed agreement ensuring that Lisbon will remain its host city through 2030.
