(Mexico City).- Investment, technological innovation, and the future of regulation will take center stage at the inaugural SiGMA North America, held September 1–3, 2026, at Centro Banamex.
From September 1st to 3rd, Mexico City will host the inaugural edition of this international event, bringing together leaders from the digital, technological, and regulatory ecosystems. Presented by Caliente Interactive and backed by AIEJA, the gathering is projected to generate innovations that will drive a direct economic impact of 220 million pesos in its debut year.
The event will convene investors, technology companies, operators, institutional representatives, and international organizations at a key moment when the Mexican digital economy is undergoing a phase of expansion and transformation.
One of the highlights will be the opening ceremony, scheduled for September 2nd, from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. The participation of representatives from the Senate of the Republic and other political figures will bring the debate on regulation and the future of the sector to the forefront of the meeting.
In this context, the growth of the digital sector and ongoing innovations make it essential to discuss topics such as transparency, taxes, consumer protection, and measures against unauthorized operators.
Multi-Million Economic Impact and Sustained Growth
According to the Economic Impact Assessment prepared for SiGMA North America 2026, it is estimated that this first edition in Mexico City will generate innovations representing around 220 million pesos in direct spending within the local economy.
The calculation includes spending on hotels, food and beverages, transportation, entertainment, venue rental, and exhibition infrastructure. Of that amount, approximately 48.5 million pesos will correspond to venue rental and booth assembly by local suppliers. The inaugural event expects an attendance of around 4,000 delegates, with approximately 12,600 hotel nights anticipated, representing an estimated expenditure of 90 million pesos exclusively on accommodation.
Based on growth projections, the direct economic impact of the event could reach between 315 and 390 million pesos by 2030 (equivalent to approximately 14.5 to 18 million euros). These are conservative estimates that do not include indirect and induced effects on the economy or the employment generated.
The choice of Mexico City as the host venue occurs as the country strengthens its position in the continent's digital markets. The SiGMA North America 2026 market report—based on Blask data collected between July 2025 and June 2026—ranks Mexico third among the analyzed North American markets by estimated monthly online gaming revenue, trailing only the United States and Canada. The figures, which showed an estimated peak in monthly revenue of $227.1 million in December 2025, point to an expanding market that requires high-quality regulation to translate into sustainable growth.
The Prominence of AI and Digital Ecosystem Challenges
Artificial intelligence will be another central theme at SiGMA North America. Throughout the event, discussions will explore how AI is transforming data analysis, automation, risk management, regulatory compliance, and consumer protection.
The topic takes on special relevance in Mexico, where technological innovation is advancing in parallel with the updating of industry rules. Therefore, the discussion will not focus solely on the current use of AI, but also on the necessary conditions to ensure its application is transparent, responsible, and sustainable. With this agenda, SiGMA North America will expand the conversation beyond gaming, gathering specialists in fintech, artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital payments, cybersecurity, eSports, and online entertainment.
AIEJA supports this gathering, which has also received the backing of a broader network of associations, regulatory bodies, and organizations from Latin America, North America, and other international jurisdictions. This plurality will open the door to an exchange of ideas on the sector's main challenges and cooperation against the illegal market.
