(Lima).- Peru Gaming Show 2026 brought together the main players in the gaming, sports betting and technology industry applied to the sector, highlighting the role of formal operators in promoting a regulated, responsible activity aligned with the standards required by the State.
A sector that boosts employment, investment and tax collection
Peru Gaming Show 2026 held on June 17 and 18 at the Jockey Exhibition Center, brought together more than 400 representatives of casinos, slot rooms, sports betting operators, technology providers, guilds and national and international authorities.
During the opening day, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) participated, reaffirming the importance of an industry that highlights its contribution to the generation of employment.
According to the figures presented during the meeting, the formal casino and slot machine sector currently operates with 674 authorized rooms and more than 300 companies, generating a collection of more than S/108 million between January and May 2026.
For its part, the gaming and sports betting segment has 92 valid authorizations, 4,534 sports betting rooms and contributed more than S/266 million in taxes during the same period.
More than S/4,287 million contributed in two decades
Between 2006 and May 2026, the formal gambling activity generated S/4,287 million for the Peruvian State, of which 60% was allocated to provincial and district municipalities, strengthening public finances and local development.
Formality as the axis of sustainable growth
During the event, the president of SONAJA, Fernando Calderón Castro, presented the paper "The value of responsible gaming in gambling operations", where he highlighted the importance of combining regulatory compliance, prevention and user protection.
"Formality is not measured only by having authorizations, but by assuming an active responsibility to the user, the State and society. At SONAJA we believe that a modern industry must invest in prevention, train its teams and use technology so that entertainment takes place in safe, transparent and responsible environments," said Calderón.
Responsible Gaming and Prevention
SONAJA also highlighted the relevance of the Mincetur Gambling Addiction Registry, which currently has 4,433 people registered nationwide. According to the union, this tool strengthens access controls, self-exclusion mechanisms and permanent training of personnel operating in regulated rooms and platforms.
The association recalled that responsible gambling does not seek to limit entertainment, but to ensure that it is developed under criteria of moderation, information and protection. He also pointed out that between 1% and 3% of players could be at risk of problem gambling, which reinforces the need to promote early detection, guidance and regulatory compliance policies.
A message of professionalization and commitment
The Peru Gaming Show 2026 left as its main conclusion the advance of the formal industry towards an increasingly professional, supervised model committed to the development of the country. SONAJA reiterated its commitment to continue promoting higher standards in prevention, control, innovation and responsible gaming to strengthen a safe, transparent and sustainable entertainment offer.
