More than a year after its introduction, the Gaming Act was still a trending topic throughout this year’s edition of SiGMA. The Authority was represented by several officials during a Regulatory Conference scheduled for the first day of the Exhibition where this milestone was discussed with the industry.

The MGA’s Chief Executive Officer, Heathcliff Farrugia, kick-started this Conference by discussing the results, targets and improvement points of the Gaming Act from the MGA’s perspective and its impact on the industry at large. During his intervention, the MGA’s CEO highlighted the importance of collaboration between regulators stating that, “collaboration between regulators takes place already, but more can be done, since we share the same objectives.”

Following on the Agenda, the MGA’s Senior Counsel for Legal International Affairs & Policy, Yanica Sant, highlighted the importance of having adequate player support systems offered by operators and how the MGA is in constant collaboration with the industry to ensure responsible gambling, in line with the Authority’s regulatory objectives.

Finally, the MGA’s Chief Legal & Enforcement Officer, Carl Brincat, discussed the importance of finding the right-balance when it comes to regulation and how the Gaming Act introduced by the Authority and drafted in collaboration with the industry sets out to achieve this exact vital goal.
