(Caribbean, SoloAzar Exclusive).- José Carlos Figueroa-Troche, GLI Caribbean Government Relations & Business Development Representative, granted an interview to SoloAzar in which he made an evaluation of the GLI performance in 2021 and the expectations for 2022, among other issues.

´In 2022, we expect the convergence of land-based and online offerings to continue to grow´

What is the evaluation you can make of the performance of GLI in 2021, the games of chance sector, the markets in which you participate, etc.?
2021 was an active year for GLI because it was an active year for our clients. The pandemic accelerated technological evolutions in land-based, lottery, and online gaming, including sports betting. We consulted with regulators and legislative bodies on ways they could adapt to the shifting technological landscape, and we worked with suppliers, helping them understand regulatory requirements and conducting testing so they could enter new and emerging markets. We also worked with regulators, suppliers, and operators of all sizes and in all aspects of the gaming industry on cybersecurity, which will be an ongoing concern and an area where everyone should pay more attention to their defenses.

What are GLI expectations for 2022?
We expect the convergence of land-based and online offerings to continue to grow, and we will work with regulators, suppliers, and operators of all sizes and in hundreds of jurisdictions as they continue to adapt to and embrace change. Of the many points of differentiation between GLI and other providers is our integrated approach to compliance, which is unique because it encompasses four crucial areas: regulatory compliance, technical compliance, end-to-end testing, and full lifecycle compliance. Our clients frequently tell us this approach is helpful because it makes them feel they are better prepared to adapt to change with confidence.

Do you have any novelties to communicate? (new product releases or technology improvements/ new markets/ participation in shows/etc.)
At GLI, it’s not about the new technology we create – it’s about the new technology suppliers create, that regulators permit, that operators deploy, and consumers enjoy. That technological development is what makes the gaming industry so fun and exciting. As a company, we made the decision to prepare for what’s next, so we have been adding staff in all our labs. This has allowed us to stay ahead of demand, keeping our quality as the best in the world, and our testing times as short as possible. We’re ready for whatever new technology suppliers dream about.
