(Copenhague).- The Danish Gambling Authority has released its October 2025 statistics, revealing a notable shift in consumer behaviour across the country’s regulated gambling market. While overall gambling spend declined, the betting sector experienced an exceptionally steep downturn.
According to the latest figures, Denmark’s total gambling spend for October 2025 reached DKK 599 million, representing a 3.4% decrease compared to October 2024. The Authority attributes this contraction primarily to a major fluctuation within the betting segment.
Betting Market Takes a Hard Hit
Betting was the only vertical to register a decline—a dramatic 46.0% year-on-year drop. The Authority did not specify the underlying causes in its data release, but the magnitude of the decrease suggests an atypical market shift compared to previous periods.
Online Casino Drives Growth
In contrast, online casinos posted the strongest growth, rising 24.4% from the same month last year. This continues the sector’s upward trajectory in Denmark, reflecting players’ increasing preference for digital gaming experiences.
Land-based gambling options also saw modest gains. Physical casinos recorded a 6.0% increase, while gaming machines grew by 0.6%, indicating steady but subdued performance in the brick-and-mortar environment.
Broader Market Dynamics
The combined results illustrate a gambling market in transition, where traditional betting activity—often influenced by sporting calendars, promotional cycles, or macroeconomic factors—can fluctuate sharply, while online casino entertainment remains resilient and continues expanding.
Industry stakeholders, operators, and analysts can explore the full data breakdown through the Danish Gambling Authority’s interactive statistics dashboard available on its Power BI platform.
As October’s figures show, Denmark’s gambling landscape is undergoing rapid transformation, with digital channels increasingly shaping consumer habits and overall market performance.
