(Macau).- The Macau SAR Government has changed the status of the gaming license proposal it received from GMM limited (GMM), TDM Radio has reported.
Unlike its rivals, the bidder, which is linked to Malaysia’s Genting Group, had its bidding proposal accepted by the government ‘conditionally’ in mid-September, without any explanation provided.
The change of status signaled that local authorities have finally taken GMM’s submission ‘unconditionally’. However, the exact reason behind the transition remains unknown.
Under the existing regulations governing gaming concession tendering procedures, bidders’ submissions are accepted ‘unconditionally’ only after they complete all the formalities they are legally obligated to observe.
The Portuguese service of the city’s public broadcaster broke the news today (Tuesday), saying that the other six hopefuls in the gaming concession race had also been informed of the government’s decision last week.
