(Lakewood, NJ.– Gaming Laboratories International introduces GLI-GSF-1 v1.1 and the GLI-GSF-3, 4, and 5 modules, expanding security controls for operators, providers, and online platforms.
Gaming Laboratories International announced the release of the final, updated versions of the GLI Gaming Security Framework (GLI-GSF) , including GLI-GSF-1 v1.1 and the new GLI-GSF-3, GLI-GSF-4, and GLI-GSF-5 modules . The framework expands and streamlines security controls for all industry sectors—from suppliers to land-based operations to online platforms—providing practical guidance for regulators and gaming organizations.
What was published and what each module covers
- GLI-GSF-1: Common Controls Audit (v1.1). Updated to provide greater clarity and enable consistent use across other GLI-GSF modules.
- GLI-GSF-3: Vendor Controls Audit (v1.0). Focused on vendors that integrate non-gaming business applications and supporting solutions into production environments without impacting regulated game components.
- GLI-GSF-4: Land-Based Gaming Controls Audit (v1.0). Applies to casinos, gaming venues, racetracks, and other physical venues that offer machines, tables, bingo, lottery, event betting, or other forms of land-based gaming.
- GLI-GSF-5: Online Gaming Controls Audit (v1.0). Covers operations via websites, mobile apps, or other digital platforms: iGaming, iLottery, online betting, live studio gaming , and interactive modes.
Impact on existing technical standards
The new GLI-GSF modules cover all forms of gaming , effectively replacing the technical security tests previously set out in GLI-27 for land-based operations and will soon replace the GLI-19 and GLI-33 Appendix B technical controls for interactive gaming and event betting as these technical standards are updated.
“Cybersecurity is a constant threat to gaming operations, and cybersecurity insurance has costs that are constantly rising. The Gaming Security Framework addresses these concerns and fills in what was a large and dangerous gap in cybersecurity for the gaming industry, because before its release, there was no direct cybersecurity standard for gaming. What GLI is doing with the Gaming Security Framework is to answer the concerns of regulators, operators, suppliers, and players worldwide,” said GLI President/CEO James Maida
Origin and collaborative approach
The GLI-GSF was created in response to a strong industry demand for a comprehensive security framework. With over three and a half decades of expertise, GLI—in collaboration with Bulletproof Solutions —structured the framework after reviewing global information security best practices and receiving input from thousands of industry stakeholders . The result is a set of modules that consolidates best practices and facilitates the adoption of baseline guidelines by regulators. It also provides operators with concrete recommendations to strengthen security across their entire operation, saving time and costs .
