July GGR hit US$ 2.31 B, US$ 22.6B year-to-date

Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for July improved 11.6 per cent year-on-year to MOP18.595 billion (US$2.31 billion), bringing the total for the first seven months to around MOP132.35 billion — up 36.7 per cent year-on-year.

The July performance from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau was in line with a revised forecast by JP Morgan Securities Asia Pacific, which had originally expected around MOP19 billion for the month.

The downward revision was attributed to a “slower start to the month”.

The latest figure is also slightly higher than June’s GGR of MOP17.69 billion — the worst monthly performance this year.

The Macau government has forecast full-year GGR of MOP216 billion, while analysts at Seaport Research Partners believe it could be as high as MOP231 billion.

More than 61 per cent of the government’s forecast has already been achieved, the latest figures indicate.
