(Macau).- Macau’s gross gaming revenue reached a new post-Covid record of MOP19.5 billion (USD2.4 billion) slightly higher than the previous National Day month (October 2023) high.
According to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, the March result of MOP19.503 billion is up 53.1 per cent year-on-year, bringing the year-to-date total to MOP57.3 billion, up 65.5 per cent compared to the previous year.
The March GGR is even slightly higher than last October’s record of MOP19.501 billion, with the result also seemingly beating a J.P. Morgan estimate. The findings could point to mass-market casino revenue running at about 110 per cent of pre-Covid levels – up from 104 per cent observed in the last quarter of 2023.
According to the latest government budget for 2024, Macau authorities have predicted that the casino industry could generate as much as MOP216 billion in casino revenue that year.
