Macau GGR hits new post-pandemic high of US$2.42 B in October

(Macau).- Macau’s gross gaming revenues hit a new post-pandemic high in October, climbing 30.9% compared with September to MOP$19.5 billion (US$2.42 billion).

The October result was also 400% higher than the same month in 2022, according to information from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).

Having seen subdued results in September as a result of Super Typhoon Saola and ongoing weather events, October was boosted by the National Day Golden Week holiday, with 932,365 visitor arrivals at an average of 116,545 per day representing 84% of 2019 levels.

Macau also welcomed more than 105,000 visitors on consecutive days during the more recent Chung Yeung Festival holiday.

Analysts have likewise noted significant recovery in the lucrative premium mass segment including increases in average bets per player.

For the first 10 months of 2023 combined, GGR is up 316% year-on-year to MOP$148.5 billion (US$18.4 billion). This means GGR has climbed back to 60.2% of the MOP$246.7 billion (US$30.6 billion) reported across the same period in 2019.
