According to information from the Statistics and Census Service, the July tally included 1,910,371 arrivals from mainland China, up from 1,444,933 in June. Of those, 865,698 came from the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta region of the Greater Bay Area (DBA), of which Zhuhai’s 204,191 arrivals and Guangzhou’s 193,843 arrivals accounted for 23.6% and 22.4% of total visitor arrivals respectively.

In terms of foreign arrivals, there were 129,756 foreign visitors in July, an increase of 8% from June. The Philippines accounted for the largest number of foreign arrivals with 31,096, followed by South Korea with 19,740.
The month saw 1,431,681 overnight visitors and 1,327,863 same day visitor arrivals, with the average length of stay of overnight visitors falling to 1.3 days.
By mode of arrival, 2,164,127 visitors entered Macau by land in July, of which 1,034,847 visitor arrivals came via the Border Gate, 711,653 via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and 306,635 via Hengqin Port. Another 372,332 visitors entered by sea and 223,085 by air.
For the first seven months of 2023 combined Macau welcomed a total of 14,405,421 visitor arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 310%.
DSEC noted that the significant increase in visitor arrivals in July was mainly due to the low base of arrivals last year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
