Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reports 9% revenue increase in total gaming revenue in February

(Harrisburg).- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported today that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming, along with fantasy contests, during February 2024 was $499,093,210, an increase of 9.25% compared to revenue generated in February 2023.
Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the PGCB include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs). The PGCB has posted separate reports for these types of gaming on its website, https://gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov/.
Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $204,961,221* during February 2024.
The following chart compiles all revenue generated in February 2024 by casinos, along with fantasy contests and VGTs operated by other vendors and includes a comparison to total revenue generated in February 2023.

This February’s revenue from the play of retail slot machines was $202,742,794, a 0.04% decrease in revenue when compared to the $202,822,213 generated in February 2023.
The number of slot machines in operation in February 2024 was 24,962 compared to 25,708 at the casinos in February 2023.

Video Gaming Terminals
Total adjusted revenue for February 2024 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,233,524, or 2.4% lower than February 2023 when revenue was $3,313,019. By the end of February 2024, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at 72 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at 66 establishments at this time last year.

About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.
The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4). A significant job generator in the Commonwealth, casinos and the other types of Board-regulated gaming generated $2.35 billion in tax revenue during in 2023.
