Singapore to drop most COVID-19 restrictions this week

Singapore will drop most of its remaining COVID-19 restrictions this week and further ease entry requirements for travellers as the sovereign state reaches the next phase of its COVID-19 recovery plan.
The development, announced by the Ministry of Health late last week, comes after Singapore’s 7-day moving average of daily local case numbers fell from a peak of 18,300 to under 3,100, with the number of hospitalisations also falling from 1,726 at its peak to 266.
As of Tuesday 26 April 2022, there will no longer be any limits placed on group sizes and all workers will be permitted to return to work. While mask-wearing will still be required in indoor settings and on public transport, social distancing requirements will be dropped and capacity limits for events with more than 1,000 people will be removed. This follows the recent announcement that gaming industry trade show G2E Asia will move from Macau to Singapore this year, with the special edition scheduled to take place at Marina Bay Sands from 24 to 26 August 2022.
Singapore is also dumping all remaining border restrictions for fully-vaccinated travellers, who will no longer need to obtain a negative COVID-19 test result prior to departure.
“It has been three weeks since we announced the easing of community and border measures, the Ministry of Health said. “Since then, daily infection numbers had continued to fall and have stabilised. Therefore, this gives us confidence to proceed with further easing of several community and travel measures.”
