ACMA Orders Blocking of Five More Illegal Gambling Websites in Australia

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has directed internet service providers to block another group of unlicensed online gambling and affiliate websites after determining they breached the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The latest additions to the blacklist include Slot Lounge, Betzillo, FastSpin99, Spinit, and PokiesPros. ACMA emphasized that website blocking is just one of several enforcement measures it employs to protect Australian players from illegal operators.

Since issuing its first blocking request in November 2019, ACMA has taken 1,322 illegal gambling and affiliate sites offline. Additionally, more than 220 offshore services have voluntarily withdrawn from the Australian market since the regulator began enforcing strengthened gambling rules in 2017.

ACMA once again reminded Australians that unlicensed gambling sites often lack essential consumer protections, increasing the risk of financial loss. The regulator urged players to consult its official register of licensed wagering services before gambling online.

Further details on online gambling regulations, as well as information on how to file a complaint against illegal operators, can be found on the ACMA website.
