Bolsonaro says games of chance are not welcome in Brazil and promises to veto the activity

“In Parliament, the urgency of this project was concluded, if I am not mistaken, with 300 votes. So it is a sign that, if I veto it here, as I said I would veto it, the veto would be overridden there,” Bolsonaro said in an interview. “I have already been asked, by some leaders, (about) how I would behave when approving the project. I said I would veto the bill."

In December, the Chamber decided by 293 votes in favor and 136 against the urgency of the proposal that legalizes gambling. This gives priority to the processing of the project, which can be analyzed in February, when the legislative work returns. If the text is approved, it will still have to go through the Senate.

Bolsonaro said that he does not agree that the "most humble" are not affected by the proposal, because the approval of the project would be like opening a "door" and "you don't know what can happen next."

Gaming, in my opinion, is not welcome in Brazil. Some say that at first it would be (only) with the big casinos, it would not be open to the humblest people. But it is a door that opens, we don't know what can happen after it opens. So, our position is just one, calm down, it is a veto of the project”.
