(Brasilia).- The parliamentary commission of enquiry that investigate the use of online betting companies for money laundering (CPI das Bets in its original portuguese) will have its work extended by 45 days.
As a result, the CPI will run until June. The request for an extension was read out on Wednesday (30) by the President of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, and will be published for it to take effect.
President of the CPI, Senator Dr Hiran (PP-RR) is the author of the request for an extension. Without it, the CPI would have had to close its activities this Wednesday.
At the request of the CPI's rapporteur, Senator Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS), Davi had already announced on Tuesday (29) that he would grant the extra time. The 45-day deadline had been agreed with the committee chairman and the leadership. Soraya had asked for an extension of 130 days, arguing that in February the CPI's activities were suspended for 63 days.
