(Brasilia).- The Brazilian president reinforces his discourse against gambling and promotes labor changes with a focus on family and religious values, in an attempt to expand his electoral support against Flávio Bolsonaro.
The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has intensified his position on sensitive issues such as online betting and the 6x1 working day, in a strategy aimed at getting closer to the evangelical and conservative electorate in the face of the next electoral scenario.
In recent days, Lula has toughened his criticism of digital betting platforms, linking their expansion to the increase in indebtedness in the population. From a perspective aligned with religious values, the president said that, as a Christian, he considers the phenomenon to represent a social problem that requires urgent attention.
At the same time, the Brazilian government has put on the table the discussion to eliminate the 6x1 work scheme (six days of work for one day of rest). The initiative seeks to install the debate on quality of life, highlighting the importance of dedicating more time to the family and religious activities.
The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Guilherme Boulos, said that an eventual reform would strengthen family ties, an argument considered key to connecting with more traditional sectors.
This discursive shift occurs in a context in which Lula faces challenges in broadening his base among evangelical voters. Recent polls show Flávio Bolsonaro's advantage in that segment, although the general electoral landscape remains competitive.
Historically, Lula avoided mixing religion and politics, prioritizing economic and social agendas. However, from his entourage they emphasize that this new approach seeks to reduce resistance in sectors where the ruling party still has less penetration
