Lima brought together gambling regulators from around the world

Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported that the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) recognized the country's progress in regulating gambling, within the framework of its 2026 annual conference.

The event took place in Lima between October 19 and 22, where significant international recognition was obtained with the participation of nearly 200 representatives of regulatory bodies and public entities from different countries, who shared experiences and analyzed the main challenges of the sector's supervision.

Among the central issues were the growth of online gambling and the need to strengthen measures to combat illegal operations.

This was the second time that Peru hosted the conference, ten years after the previous edition held in the country. Delegations from Austria, Croatia, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, China, Gibraltar, Finland, the Netherlands, the United States and Canada, among other territories, attended.

Betting integrity and combating illegal gambling

During the conference, participants addressed different issues related to the regulation and supervision of gambling at an international level.

The agenda included discussions on the integrity of sports betting and markets, strategies to combat illegal gambling in Latin America, Africa and Europe, and the use of data to prevent money laundering.

The exchange of experiences sought to promote cooperation between authorities and strengthen the tools available to respond to the challenges of an industry in constant evolution.

Mincetur highlights the Peruvian regulatory framework

In Peru, Mincetur is the body responsible for regulating and supervising casinos, slot machines, and remote sports games and betting.

The regulatory framework applicable to these activities seeks to strengthen the supervision of operations and guarantee greater protection for users.

In this context, the IAGR recognition highlights the country's progress in regulatory matters and the importance of maintaining international cooperation to improve control and supervision practices.

The meeting boosts meeting tourism

The holding of the Annual Conference of Gaming Regulators also contributed to the development of business tourism in Peru, an activity that attracts international visitors for professional reasons and generates demand for accommodation, transportation and gastronomy services.

The IAGR is an international non-profit organization that brings together authorities responsible for regulating gambling in different parts of the world. Its annual meetings promote the exchange of knowledge, institutional cooperation and the dissemination of good regulatory practices.

For its part, Mincetur reaffirmed its commitment to responsible gambling by strengthening inspection actions and promoting authorized and safe activities.
