Uruguay Creates CUOASEC Seeking Greater Regulation in Casinos and Gambling

Uruguay takes an important step in organizing the gaming sector with the creation of the Uruguayan Chamber of Casino Operators and Lessors of Entertainment Venues (CUOASEC). The initiative includes participation from all casino operating companies in the country, such as Codere, Baluma S.A., Compañía Rioplatense de Hoteles S.A., Manteo S.A., Naranpark S.A., and Mirador Campero S.A., which generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs and significant investments in infrastructure and tourism.

CUOASEC was established with the aim of strengthening the sector’s institutional representation, consolidating high-level dialogue spaces, and contributing to the construction of a transparent, modern, and sustainable regulatory framework.

Mr. Luis Alberto Gama Hernández was appointed Executive Secretary, from where he will lead a strategic agenda focused on promoting sector transformation, institutional coordination, and the implementation of responsible gaming practices aligned with international standards.

Through this initiative, the Chamber reaffirms its commitment to Uruguay’s economic and tourism development, as well as to a responsible and sustainable gaming industry.
