President of Colombian Gaming Regulatory Entity proposed the creation of an Ibero-American lottery to finance environmental projects

(Bogota).- During the VIII Ibero-American Games Summit, President Marco Emilio Hincapié presented to directors of regulatory entities on the continent the proposal to create a regional lottery that generates resources to combat climate change.

Marco Emilio Hincapié, President of COLJUEGOS, said: “We have presented our progress in regulation. In addition, we have taken the opportunity to propose the creation of a large Ibero-American raffle that allows us to direct profits to combat the effects of climate change,” said the president of Coljuegos. And he added: “In our region we have areas like the Amazon and the Orinoquía that we must protect due to their environmental wealth. We have a great responsibility with the new generations and that is why we must guarantee environmental sustainability in the future.” 

Hincapié's proposal was presented as part of the presentation titled "Where are games of luck and chance going in Colombia and Latin America?", through which the president of the entity announced both the current state of the industry and regulatory challenges. In the same way, the president of Coljuegos reiterated the proposal to form a Latin American commission of regulators, this in order to advance in the regulatory update of the industry, promote responsible gaming and fight against illegal betting in the region. 

As a result of the summit, we have committed to combating illegal gambling in each of our countries. In addition, we will seek to agree on technological and regulatory strategies that allow us to have regulatory protection in Latin America,” said Hincapié. 

The VII Ibero-American Gaming Summit was held on May 14 and 15 on the island of Puerto Rico. Representatives of regulatory entities and lotteries from countries such as Chile, Portugal, Peru, Ecuador, Paraguay, Panama, among others, participated in the event. The event also discussed topics such as the current state of the market in the world, taxation in the industry, challenges in terms of competitiveness and innovation, the situation of online gaming in regulated countries and the social impact of online gaming. luck and chance.
