(Spain).- Although the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, in the hands of Alberto Garzón, tried to take advantage of the stoppage of the COVID-19 pandemic to change the rules within the online gaming market, the shot seems to have backfired.
The Game Yearbook in Spain reveals that, between the end of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022, the number of its users shot up by more than 15%. A thriving market that continues to offer opportunities to boost the economy and create new jobs (it already generates 90,000 jobs in Spain), as indicated by the online casino guide for 2022.
With the new law of the Ministry of Consumption making similar waters, the suppliers of the sector foresee that the year will end with figures to those prior to the pandemic. That is, with a business volume of more than 32,000 million euros. A figure that, although it seems very high, is not far from the 20,000 million euros that are currently moving.
The growth of the online casino sector in Spain is discovering that new firms are landing on the market, who seek to get their share.
It is important to remember that the Government of Spain recently approved more than 50 licenses for online casinos, further proof of the rise of a market that has users in a wide range of ages.
Not in vain, more than a million Spaniards are frequent users of online casinos, while the number of profiles registered on the different platforms exceeds one and a half million people.
The middle-aged public, between 30 and 50 years old, leads this upward trend and exceeds 65% of all users. The key to success?: The ease of connection, since only an electronic device and access to the network are required to access online casinos.
