GLI marks 20 years of growing together with the Latin America region
⏱ 3 min read
(Lakewood).- Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) is marking 20 years of service to the Latin American gaming and lottery industry.
GLI’s work in Latin America began when the company was accredited as the region’s first testing laboratory. GLI then provided testing and certification services in Peru, which was the first jurisdiction to establish a technical compliance process in Latin America.
Today the company’s presence has grown to include independent consultancy, auditing, cybersecurity, as well as testing and certification services for the gaming and lottery industry.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with regulators, suppliers, and operators across Latin America over the past 20 years. Jurisdictions across the region have made tremendous strides and today are among the world’s most progressive. The thanks goes completely to the hard-working regulatory and industry professionals, who have dedicated their lives to making this region a vibrant, fair place to do business, and to play,” said GLI President/CEO James Maida.
GLI has worked with every jurisdiction in Latin America on regulators and lotteries’ efforts to establish regulations, adopt new technology, and maintain the credibility and transparency of the industry. GLI also worked with Latin America´s suppliers and operators in their first efforts to comply with technical compliance requirements. Those efforts have opened opportunities allowing GLI clients to situate themselves in a globalized market and compete on equal terms.
“We have been honored to work side by side with the Latin American industry for 20 years. We feel grateful and fortunate to be part of the monumental growth of the industry. Since then, we have grown together and with that, the professionalization continues to spread in many countries in the region,” said Karen Sierra-Hughes, GLI’s Director of Government Relations and Business Development, LatAm and Caribbean.
As the Latin America gaming and lottery industry turns its eye to the future, GLI has also grown to ensure the company is ready and able to help the region’s regulators, operators, and suppliers to achieve their regulatory and market reach goals, building customized services that address their specific needs with a forward-thinking approach. GLI now has offices in Peru, Puerto Rico, Mexico and a laboratory in Argentina, serving the region with our global experience and local focus.
“The needs for our independent advice and services continue to grow as jurisdictions continue to seek a modern and strong regulatory model and as technology becomes more complex. That’s why regulators, suppliers, and operators consistently continue to rely on our integral services from policy and regulatory development, audit, testing, certification, cybersecurity, responsible gambling, and money laundering prevention. Keeping pace with our clients’ needs and technology is crucial to the industry’s success, and we are committed to our clients in Latin America and the Caribbean, and around the world, to help them be as prepared as possible for every opportunity that lies ahead. Finally, but not less important, thank you to all of you that allow us to be who we are today, we are so looking forward to our next 20 years together,” Sierra-Hughes said.
