(Paris).- The French National Gaming Authority (ANJ) announced that has named Pauline Hot as its General Director.
A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (Hannah Arendt class), Pauline Hot has been an auditor at the Conseil d'Etat since 2020, before becoming a Maître des requêtes. She was rapporteur to the 6th chamber of the Administrative Jurisdiction Division and to the Administrative Division. She has been Deputy General Director of the ANJ since January 2025.
The ANJ (Autorité Nationale des Jeux) is France’s National Gambling Authority, responsible for regulating the country’s legal gambling sector. It was officially established in 2020, succeeding the ARJEL (Autorité de Régulation des Jeux en Ligne), with expanded powers and a broader mandate.
Key Responsibilities:
-Regulation of Gambling Operators
-Consumer Protection
-Advertising Oversight
-Market Supervision and Data Collection
-Anti-Money Laundering and Integrity Measures
ANJ is governed by a board of commissioners led by a President, currently (as of 2024) Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, who has brought a more consumer-protection-focused approach to the authority.
